the ovulatory phase // expand

Updated: Nov 1, 2022

The ovulatory phase is the SECOND phase of your cycle.

If counting day 1 as day 1 this means ovulation happens around day 7-10 (day 12-15 if using the old way of counting).

The ovulatory phase only lasts a few days, but because there's always a day or so transitioning from one phase to another, I like to give each phase a whole week of attention.

During the ovulatory phase estrogen is at its peak which stimulates the verbal and social centers of the brain. This makes it a great time to collaborate, host a gathering, have meaningful conversations and connect with others.

During this phase I opt for raw fruits and vegetables (fresh juices, smoothies, salads) which flush any excess hormones from my body and calm my nervous system.

"According to traditional Chinese medicine, this is a hot phase of the cycle because of the temperature change from ovulation, so you can sustain the most raw foods during this phase. Fill up on veggies (red bell pepper, spinach, tomato, leafy greens) and fruit (raspberries, strawberries) for their cooling effect and fiber."
