journey back to self // turning wake

The last few days have been a complete whirlwind.

I left for the beach with the intent to complete a writing alllllll about it when I got home… I have a story to tell.

I suppose I have many stories to tell.

Before I began my workout I received the most unexpected and beautiful message from an old friend...

...The most incredible embodied movement practice then followed and I could feel you all with me.

On my drive home listening to one of my favourite songs by Ayla Nereo, an overwhelming wave of compassion and love flooded my body.

Today is not for stories.

Today is to give gratitude to all the incredible beings that I have connected with in this life.

Please know how much I fucking love you.

This song and mishmash of movement is for all of you and all of me.

You will hear my voice here singin' There's a let from the greed A gift for the kind I'll be dancing' with the ones who remind me
We are born of dust and silence We are made of ancient song And there are ones who'll keep us sleeping And there are ones who bring the dawn
Put your back to the birch and your mind To the matter of a listening kind of way

Love,

Relationship to Place

Rather than offering a static land acknowledgement, Lokah understands relationship with place as an ongoing practice of learning, reciprocity, and accountability.

The responsibilities of this work are different in every place. We encourage ourselves - and everyone who engages with Lokah - to learn whose lands we are on, understand the histories that shape them, and consider what meaningful relationship looks like where we live, work, and gather.
