journey back to self // four

this was the series of posts that started my journey into living a rhythmic life:

this magical 28-day hormone cycle is our infradian rhythm

understanding and recognizing the magic of this rhythm was new to me but the main idea in these posts resonated deeper than any message i had seen online before.

FEMALE PHYSIOLOGY WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THE 8-5 GRIND @iamannikanicole

i immediately bought Alissa Vitti’s book and started my journey syncing with my menstrual cycle.

i urge anyone reading this to buy her book. it completely changed my life.

i am going to create a series of posts and content for each phase of the female 28-day infradian rhythm, but for now here are some basics:

In the Flo Infradian Rhythm Chart

as i have been learning more about the wonders of my own cycle and tuning inwards and aligning my life with the unique needs of each phase i have watched my life transform. i have created a connection with myself that was not there before.

that connection is magically powerful.

my life is not completely "sorted" lol - i have come to terms what that and decided it is no longer my goal to have everything figured out.

through syncing with my cycle i now have more self-awareness, more self-connection and more inner-safety which naturally cultivated the ability to relax into the perfect framework my own cycle provides.

i no longer need to look outside of myself for "ways" to exist, "ways" to do business, "ways" to do things better... instead just being is enough.

understanding nature is here to support me on this cycle-syncing journey has been another powerful and beautiful discovery...

Lokah Infradian Rhythm Chart

each phase of our cycle varies by a day or so and each woman’s body is different. these figures are just approximate in order to have clarity around the unique needs of each phase

Day of Cycle

re-learning our 1,2,3’s…

lokah method: i count day 1 of the first phase (follicular) as day 1 of my cycle because… it makes fucking sense to me 😁

i am tired of adapting my nuanced mind to a system that makes no sense to me.

if you feel the same, i invite you to join me in re-learning our 1,2,3’s

my next post will be about the follicular phase and start out teaching you the basics of counting in this very... very... basic way ☺️

i will primarily use the lokah method for counting days of the cycle but if you have a way that makes sense and works for you please feel no obligation to unlearn whatever that might be.

*old method

for now i will try my best to make reference to the “old way” (standard way) of counting.

although the lokah way is not all that radical, it is different and could make things confusing (for example if you are using a period tracking app. even my favourite app. starts "day 1" in the menstrual phase 😕)

i hope this brief intro to a very deep topic has helped you in some way 😊

stay tuned for so much more!
