journey birthing lokah // two

Updated: Jul 30, 2022

I did it.

I said I would launch Lokah in April 2022.

It’s April 22 2022, and without planning to launch on this date, it happened.

I’ve realized accomplishing goals don’t really make me feel great.

Creating authentically, makes me feel amazing.

But saying “I’m going to create that” and doing it. Does not.

I spent hours creating content to post on Instagram “because that’s what you have to do to start a movement or business or… anything?”…

I soon as I published it. I didn’t like it anymore.

Now what.

While the “completion” of a task or goal or plan may create a sense of satisfaction, it does not bring me joy.

I want JOY.

Joy > Satisfaction.

But why does it need to be one or the other?

I felt no joy in completing the task of “launching Lokah”.

But I feel great joy in Lokah being launched.

Relationship to Place

Rather than offering a static land acknowledgement, Lokah understands relationship with place as an ongoing practice of learning, reciprocity, and accountability.

The responsibilities of this work are different in every place. We encourage ourselves - and everyone who engages with Lokah - to learn whose lands we are on, understand the histories that shape them, and consider what meaningful relationship looks like where we live, work, and gather.
